I like drawing people's faces then painting them back in the studio. I mostly love knackered old men and strong looking women. I used to sit in pubs, rip the front off beermats and sketch on them. When researching my first book Is Shane MacGowan Still Alive? I travelled around Ireland sketching faces onto the margins of newspapers.

The eyes may well be the windows of the soul, but the chin is the front door.
