The Jesus of Finsbury Park (acrylic on charity shop painting) €160
One of my ongoing projects is called The Museum of Reconstituted Charity Shop Art. I buy up old framed prints with gaudy frames then paint over the top of them. This picture was a crappy print of a harbour scene in a gold plastic frame. The new version is of a homeless man called Brendan who lived in Hammersmith, but I imagined that he'd previously been a preacher in Finsbury Park. I once gave him a pair of high laced German paratroopers boots when his own boots began to fall apart, but he swapped them for a pair of patent black leather shoes.
